I'd like a Mac... Mini size it, please.

Steve Jobs gave his annual keynote at MacWorld today and announced several new products from Apple. Of course, I'll be loving Tiger and iLife 5, but the thing that I'll be buying really soon is a Mac mini.

It's kind of a continuation of the "mini" line, with the iPod mini coming first and now the Mac mini.

Actually, Apple made one of my predictions come true partly:

"Bonus: iPod-mini-mini can be stowed in the PC card slot."
However, they didn't call it the iPod-mini-mini. Instead, they called it the iPod shuffle (wonder if that will be a new dance too?) Also, instead of fitting inside a PC card slot, it plugs right into a USB port. No iPod Scribble, though. I'm still holding out hope for a G5 PowerBook later on this year.

OK, so why would I want a Mac mini? Well, I've got an aging Pentium II 350Mhz custom-built PC running Windows 2000 that is on its last legs. Fortunately it doesn't have any spyware or viruses due to a potent combo of VirusScan + ZoneAlarm + not downloading anything except for Firefox. Why do I have this relic from the late 90s? Well, its because I have small children. Mini children, you could say. :) And mini children do not appreciate a Dual G5 that looks like a giant cheese grater. In fact, they would probably try to grate cheese... or at least play-dough. Nor do they appreciate gleaming 23" Cinema displays. In fact, they would probably knock it over and poke it constantly. Fortunately, I have a good ol' fashioned CRT that I can hook up my new Mac mini to. Oh and I might just let my family start downloading things again.
